Support

MONO is a black-and-white camera for iPhone running iOS 18 or later. This guide covers permission recovery, capture controls, saving, and the private local gallery.

Camera permission and a blank viewfinder

Camera permission powers the live monochrome viewfinder. If the viewfinder is unavailable after access was denied, open Settings, find MONO, enable Camera access, and return to the app.

Add Photos permission and save recovery

MONO requests Add Photos access when you take a photograph. This add-only permission lets MONO save one full-resolution processed photograph; it does not let the app browse or read your Photos library.

If a photograph is waiting for Add Photos access, open Settings, find MONO, allow Add Photos access, confirm that the iPhone has available storage, and then return to MONO. After current authorization is confirmed, saving automatically resumes for the same processed photograph. You do not need to press the shutter again.

Profiles and camera controls

Choose NATURAL, SOFT, or HARD by tapping the profile name or swiping horizontally in the viewfinder.

Tap the viewfinder to focus. Drag vertically at the focus control to adjust exposure. Use the camera controls to switch a physical lens or the front camera.

Your private local gallery

The private local gallery shows preview copies created by MONO and stored inside the app container. It does not import older photographs and does not read the Photos library.

The full-resolution processed photograph is stored separately in Photos after a successful save.

Troubleshooting

After changing a permission in Settings, return to MONO. If the affected view still has not recovered, close and reopen the app once.

  • Blank viewfinder: confirm Camera access in Settings.
  • Photograph not saved: confirm Add Photos access and available device storage.
  • Gallery preview missing after a Photos permission prompt: return to MONO after allowing Add Photos access and let the pending save finish; MONO does not import from Photos.
  • Focus or exposure feels unchanged: tap the viewfinder again, then drag vertically at the focus control.

Use the public Restato contact page and include the MONO version, iPhone model, iOS version, what you expected, and the steps that reproduce the issue. Do not send private photographs or other sensitive information.
